Smashburger Meetup – A Sunny-Day Burger & Milkshake Social in the Galleria

This lively Smashburger gathering in the Galleria brought together great weather, good company, and nostalgic comfort food—all the makings of a fun, relaxed mid-April outing. With clear skies overhead, it was the perfect day for burgers, fries, milkshakes, and conversation.

Smashburger has long dotted Houston’s food scene, but this event offered a great excuse to revisit the familiar chain in a social setting. While many attendees opted for burgers, the grilled chicken sandwich held its own—hot, fresh, and served on toasted buns with crisp tomato slices. Though the avocado add-on fell flat (prepackaged in flavor and initially forgotten), the rest of the meal delivered warm satisfaction. The rosemary-dusted tater tots were a standout: crispy, aromatic, and wonderfully seasoned. And the strawberry milkshake? Pure childhood nostalgia in a cup—creamy, sweet, and perfectly paired with a savory plate.

Surrounded by friendly faces and sunny weather, the meetup was a delightful reminder of how simple comfort foods can bring people together.

“What a wonderful foodtastic event! Clear and sunny skies called for a milkshake paired with burgers and fries. Smashburger has been around for some time... scattered throughout Houston, but I had barely visited in the past. Simply because I don't eat burgers that often. But are they tasty? Most definitely. Whether stacked, smashed or simply a classic patty no cheese, you can't go wrong.

I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. Paired it with tator tots and a strawberry milkshake. No frills, just simple. Asked for avocado with my sandwich as well. Meal came out piping hot and fresh. The grilled chicken breast was on the smaller side, but still good. Buns were toasted and the tomato slices were fresh in the sandwich. The only thing that was missing was the avocado — they forgot to put it in the meal so I had to go and grab it. Avocado was a let down because it tasted dull and prepackaged, just as similar as the ones from Sam's club.

Other than that, my meal was good. Fresh rosemary tossed into crispy and warm tator tots? Goood stuff! As well as the sweet and creamy strawberry milkshake paired with the meal. Very nostalgic of childhood.

Met with others as we chowed down on good grub. Twas warm and friendly company on that bright day. Will I revisit this particular Smashburger location? Most definitely. It's central within most spots in the inner loop.
