About Us

Hi, I’m Sara Loren, co-founder of Tradition Local.

​

Born in California and raised in Texas, I’ve always felt deeply connected to culture, food, travel, and most importantly community. I’m a longtime writer with over 16 years of experience, passionate about uncovering local gems and sharing honest, heartfelt food stories. With a background in culinary school and experience as a former teacher, my love for learning and guiding others has always been at the heart of what I do. Learning has never felt like a task to me. It’s simply who I am.

Over the years, I’ve also explored photography, becoming part of Houston’s original photography club in 2009 hosted by Ross McEathron. I’ve always loved capturing the city, whether it’s the glow of the skyline, the buzz of farmers markets, or the vibrant energy of Houston’s multicultural festivals.

Throughout my journey, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with, connect with, and interview some of Houston’s most respected chefs. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the people behind the plates and the stories behind the flavors.

Alongside my husband, Dillon, who specializes in residential and commercial real estate, we work together to build Tradition Local as a way of celebrating the people, places, and flavors that make our communities feel like home.

I am a certified Health Coach and proudly consider myself a lifelong learner. I’m passionate about growing as an individual, a mother, and a wife. I believe in showing up with heart, curiosity, and care, whether it’s in a culinary space with clients or in the everyday moments that truly matter.
