The Koreatown HTX Foodie Adventure brought together friends, flavor, and cultural exploration in one seamlessly organized event. Focused on Korean cuisine and ending with a lively wander through HMart, this meetup blended education, great food, and community bonding into a memorable Sunday experience.
The highlight of the outing was a delicious Shabu-style meal—vegetarian for some, seafood and meat options for others—all seasoned with the bold sauces, spices, and banchan that define comforting Korean cooking. Each guest had their own personal hot pot setup, complete with adjustable heat controls, making the meal both engaging and customizable. Service was attentive throughout, creating a smooth, enjoyable dining experience.
After the meal, a group shopping adventure through HMart added an extra layer of fun. From rambutan to fresh nectarines to unique pantry items, everyone found something to spark curiosity. The outing wrapped with goodie bags, laughter, and the joy of reconnecting with familiar faces.

Sara I. (Aug 27, 2023):
“What a wonderful event. All things Korean food and stopping at HMART as the last part of the adventure tour! I remember when Shabu style food was mentioned — I was already intrigued from the get-go. Because of it having a Korean flair I knew that I would enjoy the food, simply because of the sauces, spice and many different condiments (banchan) veggies and herbs. That is what I got here as I inhaled my vegetarian style shabu and my friends equally enjoyed their meal as well. They have seafood and meat options as well and everyone dug in and went back for more for this AYCE style concept.
Service was attentive and everything was well taken care of. I got to learn a few new techniques in regards to Shabu and hot soup dining. I like this style as it's not a communal pot that you all dig out of. You can adjust the temperature of your soup as well or just turn it off, all with a remote on the side of the table.
A few of us ventured off to HMart afterwards in search of more unique goodies. We purchased rambutan, fresh nectarine and a few shelf items. It was fun exploring the grocery store on a very crowded Sunday.
It was great catching up with a few old school friends while munching on hot soup. Good seeing Victoria, Tabatha and Genae as well. Thank y'all for your humor, silliness and good company. Cheers and SYOY until next time!”
