“Kebabs and Rice! As simple and yet so flavourful as it can get.
That is all I need when I come to Bijan Persian Grill.
The location is right on Hilcroft, towards the entrance. You can`t miss it. The balcony juts out, and the place is quite big.
Once you enter, immediately the staff seats you promptly. This has to be some of the best service I have received at a Persian restaurant. The waiters are calm and assuring, as well as helpful when deciding on the menu.
I have enjoyed the Koobideh as well as the Chicken Kebabs. The stews are delicious and slow cooked as well. The meat is perfectly cooked and juicy. One thing I love about Persian (Irani) food is that it does not need an overwhelming amount of spices and flavourings. It is just simple and so darn good.
The food is served with a platter of fresh herbs and feta cheese. The bread is rustic, crispy, and always warm. Tear a piece of bread, and wrap it around some herbs and cheese. It's like having pizza without the sauce.
On the table is this ‘mystery spice’ everyone is unsure of. I will tell you right now what it is! The spice is actually a dried berry called sumac. Dash it on top of your rice for a tart and pleasant surprise.
The saffron ice cream is exotic and rich. It's a change from regular flavoured ice cream. Do try it!
End the night with some sweet and relaxing Persian tea. It is aromatic, cardamom flavoured Earl Grey. Ah, splendid…”
