The Atmosphere
The restaurant has a bright and airy layout, with large windows toward the back and plenty of seating options. Upon entering, we were greeted immediately and seated without delay.
The vibe leans casual and modern — perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner.
What We Ordered
While Bonchon is widely known for its fried chicken wings and drumsticks, we explored a few different menu items.
🥑 Salmon Avocado Ball
A pleasant surprise. Smooth salmon and creamy avocado came together in a sushi-like bite, topped with assorted sauces and crispy elements for texture.
This was easily the standout dish and the one I’d most likely order again.
🥟 Shrimp Shumai
Steamed and served with honey dijon dressing. While my friend wasn’t overly impressed with the sauce, I enjoyed the flavor combination and appreciated the lighter preparation.
🍗 Chicken Katsu
Crispy, breaded chicken served over long-grain rice with broccoli. The texture was crunchy and satisfying, though flavor-wise it didn’t stand out on its own.
Pairing it with a side of kimchi helped elevate the dish with acidity and spice.
Menu Notes
The menu is short and straightforward — no confusion, no overwhelming choices. Beyond fried chicken, you’ll find:
Glass noodles
Udon soup
Rice dishes
Appetizers
Portions are fair, though prices run on the higher side for fast-casual dining.
Overall Impression
Bonchon in Sugar Land delivers solid Korean-inspired dishes in a clean and welcoming space. While not every item sparked a strong craving for a return visit, the salmon avocado ball stood out, and there’s potential in exploring other menu options like glass noodles or udon soup.
For those looking to try Korean fried chicken or casual Korean fare in the suburbs, it’s worth giving Bonchon a try at least once.
