Sara I. (Jun 3, 2022): “What a cosy gathering full of my favorite people! Those are the best events—the ones where you can laugh, talk and relish with good company. No frou frou or weird vibes whatsoever. Just chill laid-back moments. Mike ended up surprising me and that made my day. Lou, as usual, was a great host.

I co-hosted a bit of the event and loved sharing the cultural background of the food as well as the local ice cream shop, bakery, and market we visited. It is my absolute pleasure to bring rich cultural heritage and perspective thrown into the mix.

We had such a great time noshing on some sweet ice cream and milkshakes. The folks at the bakery were just as warm and friendly—introducing everyone to exotic saffron tea and knafeh, which is a dessert made from Nablus cheese and shredded filo pastry. Nablus is a city in Palestine, and that is where the lovely dessert originates. I shared my knafeh with everyone and some folks grabbed butter cookies (ghraybeh) and baklava as well.

The bakery folks own the market next door and we equally enjoyed our time over there. Some friends bought saffron and others bought tea biscuits. All in all, we had a great time conversing and catching up like old times. Nostalgia at its finest mixed in with a bit of new moments. I look forward to the next event! Might be mine next time around. Cheers and syoy!”
