The Atmosphere
Kung Fu Tea has plenty of tables throughout the café, making it a great spot to gather with friends. There are small tables for intimate chats and larger ones for groups.
It can get noisy on the weekends due to the crowd, but the energy feels lively rather than overwhelming. Even close to closing time, the staff did not rush us out, which was appreciated.
What I Ordered
Iced Milk Tea with Tapioca
My go to drink at almost any tapioca shop is iced milk tea with tapioca. In a hot city like Houston, iced always wins.
The drink was made quickly, and everyone in my group received their beverages at the same time. The milk tea was crisp, creamy, and lightly frothy. There was a subtle floral jasmine scent that added a delicate touch.
The tapioca pearls were perfect. Firm, chewy, and lightly sweet. The ice to milk ratio was balanced, and the sweetness level was just right without needing any adjustments.
The machines they use seem to create a light and airy texture, which makes the drink especially refreshing.
Prices may feel slightly steep, but for an occasional treat, it satisfies the craving.
Overall Impression
Kung Fu Tea delivers a consistent and enjoyable milk tea experience in Houston Chinatown. From the quick service to the perfectly chewy tapioca pearls, it hits the mark for a classic boba run.
If you are craving a crisp and creamy milk tea with tapioca, this is a dependable spot to visit.

Review
Sara I. (Mar 29, 2016):
“So I had a nice experience here on a busy Saturday night. Went with some friends and surprisingly the line wasn't too long. If anything, the line was quick and efficient. At almost any tapioca joint, my go to order is the iced milk tea with tapioca. Sometimes i'll order hot milk tea, but for the most part, in this hot city - I usually opt for the iced version. The milk tea with tapioca was made rather quickly! Everyone's order was delivered at the same time. My beverage was crisp, creamy and frothy. The tapioca pearls themselves were perfect - firm, chewy and sweet. The milk tea here is pretty good, it has the light floral scent of jasmine. I opted for the small size and the ice to milk ratio was just fine. The sweetness level was just right for my liking, I didn't have to adjust or anything. I believe the machines they use create a light and frothy beverage. Sure the prices might be a little steep, but I don't drink tapioca beverages as often as I used to. Far too many calories and amount of sugar personally - haha! Although, I definitely know where to head when i'm craving a crisp and sweet milk tea with tapioca. They have a large menu and I may try something new next time around. This is a nice spot to bring friends as their are many tables spread across the cafe, ranging from small tables to large. Can get quite noisy on the weekend though, but that didnt bother us too much. Customer service was just fine and we werent bothered. They were even closing but didnt push us out or anything. Check out this place if you're ever in the area!”
