I don't wanna taco bout' it.. but these tacos were muy malo (really bad).
My twin sister and I visited Soliz Casa De Tacos last week after running a few errands. We got there 30 minutes before closing and decided to sit inside and eat a light lunch. Service was awkward and the folks behind the counter could have been friendlier. They seem warmer with their regular customers. Menu is decently large and consists of combination plates, menudo, and barbacoa. They have a few side items and drinks to choose from as well. The most popular items on the menu would be any of their breakfast tacos. These tacos are what everyone has been drawn to for the past few decades. But I really wasn't impressed.
I ordered the Eric taco which consisted of eggs, potatoes, onions, cheese and guac. I couldn't taste any of the ingredients except for the potatoes. It was just a starchy mess. The eggs were scattered inside the tortilla and resembled confetti. This is a breakfast taco and the primary ingredient should have been the eggs. My sister felt the same way about her taco. Very skimpy and lacked any flavor. The tortilla had a smokey taste which was off-putting as well. Salsa had a decent flavor and covered up the taste of the lackluster taco. On a further note, the beans are cooked with pork, so it's an item that isn't vegetarian friendly.
The inside of Soliz is clean and newly renovated. But would I revisit on any further occasion? Probably not. Raize's is on the same street and has better tasting tacos with a better price tag and generous ingredients.
What we tried
Sara tried the Eric taco. The visit exposed several shortcomings in execution, service, or consistency that outweighed the positives.
