Old Saigon Cafe review

Dining here was magical. The food tasted amazing and it was a special night overall. Appreciated the warm service and hospitality. The menu displays a variety of items to nosh on. Found a unique item off the menu which was the artichoke appetizer. It normally isn't found in Vietnamese cafes.. but It was recommended to us by the owner, so we gave it a shot. The artichokes were presented nicely, all dressed up in lemon and olive oil. They were meaty, tender, and tasty. Lemony and refreshing on the palate. Tried the spicy chicken lemongrass banh mi. The bread was fresh and crispy. Shredded chicken was spicy, saucy and very flavorful. I enjoyed the spicy kick in this sandwich. It was quite different than any other banh mi I had tried. Banh mi was served in a basket and came with french fries as well. Warm, crispy fries paired with a spicy chicken sandwich? Not bad. The crab and mango soft rolls were unique as well. Stuffed with crab and sweet mango, these rolls were light and filling. Served with the usual nuoc cham (dipping sauce) and peanut dipping sauce. All three items were delightful.. I can see myself coming back just for those items.. Although I do want to try the tableside pho, especially with our current weather. Seems fitting. Old Saigon cafe is a clean and simple little place tucked on Westheimer road. There are quite a few restaurants in this strip. But, if you're looking for fresh, healthy and flavorful food.. you'll find it here.
